Check Balance Workflow

  1. From Exceed, tap the Balance Store Card key (#141).

  1. Enter the gift card:
    1. Scan the gift card or
    2. Select KeyPad, enter the gift card number, then select OK.
      Note: You can enter the full gift card number (including dashes), or just the last four characters.

  2. Exceed returns on screen the following data:
    • Card Number
    • Status
    • Available Balance
    • Initial Balance
    • Expiry Date


  1. Tap the Print button to print this information to a linked receipt printer, or tap OK to return to the main Exceed screen.

Note: Awaiting Payment and Pending Postage will display a Pending Card Status from Exceed.



Redeem Gift Card Workflow

  1. Initiate a Table Payment from the Table Functions page, or a quick sale payment using a Tender Types (#49), Fast Tender - No Table (#170), or Fast Store Card (#136) key.

  1. Note: Steps 2 and 3 are only relevant to table payments or quick sales using Tender Types or Fast Tender – No Table keys. Skip to step 4 if using Fast Store Card key.

    Enter the value to be paid by the gift card in the Stored Value field, then tap OK.

    Note: The integration supports both full and partial gift card payments. For partial payments, any balance beyond the gift card payment value can be applied to another tender (cash, eftpos, etc) in the same tender types or pay table window.

    Note: Split tender payments are not possible with the Fast Store Card (#136) key as this key will attempt to pay the entire value, skipping the tender window.

  1. If completing a split tender payment, follow any remaining prompts for the other tender.

  1. Enter the gift card:
    1. Scan the gift card or
    2. Select KeyPad, enter the gift card number, then select OK.
      Note: You can enter the full gift card number (including dashes), or just the last four characters.


  1. Once the payment finalises in H&L, you can find the payment is automatically redeemed in the NBI Admin page (Gift Cards > Management > select the gift card).


Quick Troubleshooting

Error

Solution

Socket Error # 10061 Connection refused.!

  1. On your H&L Server, open Windows Services. (You can search for it from the task bar / start menu.)

  1. Scroll down and start or restart the H&L Sysnet – Stored Value Integration Service.

  1. Reset and Download Exceed

  1. Retry the balance check or gift redemption.

"cardNumber" - Not Found! Error when entering the gift card number

  • This may indicate that the card number wasn’t recognised.

  • Try again, making sure the card number is entered exactly as present on the physical or eGift Card.

  • If entering the full card number, ensure the dashes (-) are included.

Failed to Redeem Stored Value: xxxx

  • This may indicate the payment value exceeds the gift card balance, the card status is not valid, the card is fully redeemed, or the card has expired.

  • Use the Balance Store Card key (#141) to verify the remaining balance, status, expiry on the card.

  • If the card status is “Active” and has an available balance, re-attempt the payment with a payment value less than or equal to the gift card balance.



Points to Note

  • Refunding (voiding) a Now Book It gift card payment is not currently available from Exceed. Attempting to do so will return a “Refund is NOT allowed.!” error.
